2012 Boxer of the Year, Fight of the Year, Knockout of the Year & More
‘Tis the season for our annual boxing awards for the year that was. And what a year it was indeed… 2012 had its fair share of ups and downs, and to be honest, many more travesties and fiascoes than shining moments. But from shocking knockouts and upset losses to memorable toe-to-toe battles and breakout performances, there were plenty of highlights along the way. Here we’ll celebrate everything, the best and the worst, that was memorable from 2012.
So dive in and take a look at our 2012 Boxing Awards. In the coming days and weeks until the end of the year, we’ll be filling in our collection and handing out more than a dozen different awards across a huge range of categories. Enjoy!
Year End 2012 Boxing Awards
As mentioned, 2012 was all over the place. Drug testing and steroid controversies flooded the sport. Terrible decisions came time and time again, including to none other than Manny Pacquiao. For every big fight that was made, another two didn’t get finalized for one stupid reason or another.
But some moments make up for everything, as our 2012 boxing awards show. When Juan Manuel Marquez flattens Manny Pacquiao with one punch… when warriors like Brandon Rios and Mike Alvarado engage in vicious slugfests… when young fighters come into their own and shine against top competition… those occasions find a way to make everything else better, at least for a time.
