Hall of Fame Boxing Announcer Al Bernstein will serve as analyst on the ITV telecast of the Carl Frampton-Chris Avalos super bantamweight championship fight on Saturday, Feb. 28.
This will be Al’s first appearance as a boxing announcer on ITV, one of England’s major terrestrial networks. This match signals the return of boxing to ITV for the first time since 2008. The main event will be shown on ITV and undercards fights will air on ITV4, while in the United States, Frampton vs. Avalos will be shown on AWE network.
Belfast’s Carl Frampton will be defending his IBF supper bantamweight crown for the first time, and 9,000 fans will fill the Odyssey Arena in Belfast to see their hometown hero. Avalos, from the United States, will be making his first try for a world title.

“I am really excited to be a part of the return of boxing to ITV. In recent years my work on television in the UK has been a highlight in my career. I love working with my colleagues there and I have immense respect for their work.
“Boxing in the UK is very special, mostly because the fans are so special. They support boxing in a huge way. I know they will enjoy seeing this great championship fight.
“This match is an intriguing one.
“Frampton is a very complete fighter with skill and power. In Avalos he faces a young man who has been in the top ten ranking for several years and brings plenty of power to this fight. The atmosphere in that arena will be electric and I think it will be an exciting match.”
