Hall Of Fame Broadcaster Al Bernstein, who will be at ringside Saturday, June 8 calling the Marcos Maidana-Josesito Lopez match on SHOWTIME, does not expect that to be a tactical fight. Bernstein said, “Although Maidana has been working on his boxing skills with new trainer Robert Garcia and Lopez wants to fight a more strategic fight, I think it is inevitable that this turns into a slugfest at some point.”
Bernstein will join Mauro Ranallo and Paulie Malignaggi at ringside to call the fight and says it’s one of the matches he has most looked forward to announcing. “With all the high profile bouts dotting the boxing landscape this year, none promises action as much as this fight. And the importance of this fight to both men adds to the urgency. A potential title match hangs in the balance,” Al said.

A title match is also a strong possibility for the winner of the Alfredo Angulo-Erislandy Lara 154 pound match also on the SHOWTIME card. Al said, “This is the ultimate boxer-puncher battle. Lara is a skilled lefty who can punch some, against a pure power puncher in Angulo. We are all wondering which approach will prevail.” The action begins live on SHOWTIME at 10 p.m.ET/ 7 p.m. PT.
