This Saturday night at the Paramount Theater in Huntington, New York undefeated Jr. Welterweight Chris Algieri will step up in class to face his toughest foe to date in Bayan Jargal in a ten round bout that will be broadcast on Azteca America.
The show is promoted by Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing.
Algieri, 11-0 with six knockouts has been working hard in preparation for this bout and knows that Jargal will be a tough nut to crack.
“I feel great and I am very excited for this bout”, said Algieri.
“Training has gone well and I feel sharp”
Jargal, who has a non-stop action style and with a record of 15-3-2, is the most experienced fighter that Algieri has faced.
“He is a tough guy who will bring it the whole fight. He is unorthodox with a great chin but I feel that my boxing fundamentals will nullify his awkward style.”
One would think with each win, pressure would start to mount on an undefeated fighter to keep his mark perfect, but not for Algieri who actually relishes his accomplishments.
“There is no pressure at all. Going out there and winning is my job”
Algieri will be fighting just minutes from his Huntington, New York home and enjoys the opportunity to fight in front of many familiar faces.
“I will have lots of family and friends there and that’s comforting plus the venue is just a hop, skip and jump from my house”
The bout will be broadcast on Azteca America and Algieri will look to make the most of this chance at national exposure to further his career.
“It is great that the whole country will see this fight. The more people who see this fight, the better it is for me”
There will be a five fight undercard highlighted by undefeated fighters Cletus Seldin, Jacques Louis and Michael Ocasio in separate bouts.
