On Wednesday, February 17th, DiBella Entertainment’s Broadway Boxing series returns for the second time in three weeks to the famed B.B. King Blues Club and Grille in midtown Manhattan. Headlining the card will be Brooklyn’s two-time world champion Amanda Serrano (26-1-1, 19KO’s) looking to claim her third world title when she takes on Canada’s Olivia Gerula (17-15-2, 3KO’s) for the vacant WBO featherweight championship.
Also seeing action on the card will be undefeated super middleweight contender Lennox Allen (20-0-1, 13KO’s) and a trio of highly regarded undefeated prospects in separate six-round bouts, including Olympian Jonathan Alonso (7-0, 4KO’s), five-time NY Golden Gloves champion Shemuel Pagan (6-0, 3KO’s) and Irish National champion Noel Murphy (4-0, 2KO’s).
A longtime advocate of female boxing, Lou DiBella signed both Amanda and her world-rated sister Cindy at the end of 2015. Amanda was scheduled to fight on the undercard of the Deontay Wilder-Artur Szpilka heavyweight championship on January 16th at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, only to see her opponent fall out just days before the card. DiBella quickly moved to reschedule the bout and now, on February 17th, Serrano will do battle against Gerula, in the first ever world championship to take place at the famed B.B. King Blues Club and Grill.
“I am thrilled to have signed the Serrano sisters,” said Lou DiBella, President of DiBella Entertainment. “Having Amanda’s first bout under the DBE banner being for a world title will only help to bring mainstream attention to Amanda’s rise in the boxing world. She is tremendously talented and it is time for boxing fans at large to take notice.”
“I am very excited for this fight and thrilled to be signed to DiBella Entertainment,” said Serrano. “Lou knows the sport better than anyone else, and he knows how to bring his fighters to this level. Come February 17, there is no chance that I will let him, my team, or all my fans down. I have one thought in my mind and that is bringing home this world title.”
Additional bouts on the card, including opponents for Allen, Alonso and Murphy will be announced soon.
