Anselmo Moreno vs. Lorenzo Parra February 26th from Panama City

Sampson Boxing LLC in association with Best Box promotions announced in a press conference at Hotel RIU, in Panama City, Panama, the championship boxing event scheduled for Saturday, February 26, 2011 at the Roberto Duran Arena. In the main event, Panama’s WBA Bantamweight World Champion, Anselmo “Chemito” Moreno, (30-1-1, 10 K.O.‘s) vs. Venezuela’s former World Champion Lorenzo “Lencho” Parra (31-2-1, 18 K.O.’s).

For Moreno, this is his eighth WBA belt defense following victories in two very closely scored decisions. Addressing the media with Sampson Lewkowicz, President of Sampson Boxing LLC, was Alberto Guerra, President of Panama‘s Professional Boxing Commission (COMIBOX) & WBA President, Jose Oliver Gomez.

The fight card will consist of ten bouts that includes national and international list of fighters: Dominican Republic’s #2 ranked 140 lb. Welterweight, Victor “Mermelada” Cayo with a record of 26-1-0 with 18 K.O.’s vs. Mexico’s Jesus Burrel. Including: Robert “La Arana” Vasquez, Rafael “El Torito” Concepcion, Roinet “El Mus” Caballero, Azael Cosio, Jose “El Tigre” Forero, Julio “Kikiriki” Escudero, to name a few. Additional fights may added to the fight card that will later be announced.

Sampson Lewkowicz added “The fights will be televised in Mexico (Cadena 3), South America (TYC Sports), VTV in Uruguay and in the United States of America. In a brief period of time we have synchronized Sampson Boxings’ efforts with Best Box for the benefit of Panamanian boxing, as this is a country with great values in boxing. I strongly believe that the current monopolies in countries like Panama are stunting the growth of the sport.

It is now time (through events such this this one) for Panamanian fighters to have the International platform of attention and recognition that they much deserve as this will allow the growth of future venues and boxing purses in Panama. It should be the will and effort of the people of Panama to support this effort to help grow boxing”
