Newly signed Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing’s junior welterweight Anthony “Showtime” Karperis (12-2, 4KO)s, Hicksville, NY) will main event for the first time at the Paramount in Huntington, NY on Saturday, August 13, 2016. Facing off in a grudge rematch against Queens native Ariel Duran (9-8-1, 5 KOs) in a bout scheduled for 10 rounds in the junior welterweight division for Karperis’ NY State title.
Karperis, who won the vacant title, defeating cross town rival Alan Gotay on April 23rd at the Paramount, knows he’s in for a tough evening against Duran, whom he defeated in a razor thin decision on July 18, 2014. Duran knows this is his one shot at a title, is training like he never has before and promises to come into Karperis’ house and walk away with the title.
Promoter Joe DeGuardia had this to say about the main event:
“These two fought a heck of a battle once before and I expect nothing less this time around, except the stakes are much higher with Karperis’ NY State title on the line. Karperis has fought all but two professional fights at the Paramount and always brings a huge fan base to the fights.
“This is the first fight for Karperis under the Star Boxing banner and I expect big things out of Anthony.”
Doors open at 7pm with first fight scheduled for 7:30 pm. The undercard will be announced shortly.
