Popular television color commentator and respected boxing trainer, Teddy Atlas, will be the special guest speaker this coming Tuesday night (Jan. 18 starting at 7 PM/ET) for the RING 8’s first meeting of 2011 at the historic Waterfront Crabhouse in Long Island City. RING 8 was formed in 1954 by an ex-prizefighter, Jack Grebelsky, and it became the eighth subsidiary of what was then known as the National Veteran Boxers Association — hence, RING “8” — and today the organization’s motto remains: Boxers Helping Boxers.
“We’re thrilled to have one of boxing’s leading authorities, Teddy Atlas, as our guest speaker,” RING 8 spokesperson Tony Mazzarella said. “Teddy has a unique perspective as an analyst for ESPN Friday Night Fights, as well as a trainer for fighters such as heavyweight contender and 2004 Olympic gold medalist, Alexander Povetkin, and former world heavyweight champion Michael Moorer.”
RING 8 is genuinely dedicated to lending a helping hand to those in the boxing community who are less fortunate and may require assistance in terms of paying their rent, medical expenses, or whatever justifiable need.
