Middleweight prospect, Joel Bartell says he is keen on a rematch with Jordan Reynolds and insists he is taking the positives from his first professional loss.
Bartell saw his unbeaten record snapped last time out with a unanimous decision defeat to Reynolds in July, who maintained his undefeated record.
The 22-year-old, who is trained by Mark Tibbs, sees the defeat as a learning experience, ahead of his return to the ring on Friday at York Hall on the undercard of Thomas Essomba’s European bantamweight title clash with Charlie Edwards.
“Yeah I learnt a lot,” Bartell told proboxing-fans.com.
“Like you said it was a great fight.
“It was a great fight for the fans. Entertainment.
“At the end of the day, this is the entertainment business and people wanna see that and I’ve learnt a lot from the fight and I’m looking forward to getting back in the ring and performing.
“I want to go all the way to the top.
“I want to do the classic route.
“English, British, Commonwealth, EBU and then world titles, but you’ve got to take fights like that especially I think early on to see what you are at the time and what you need to improve on.
“Otherwise you’re going to be protected until you get to wherever you get and lose in a spot where it’s harder to come back.”
The Surrey man looks to get back to winning ways when he meets Nikolas Dzurnak, who has been stopped in three of his seven defeats.
Bartell admits he is hopeful of landing a rematch with Reynolds in the future, but concedes he must return to winning form first.

“I definitely want a rematch,” he added.
“But like ive said there, you’ve got to go back, you’ve got to rebuild, so this fight is a six rounder.
“Then I think I’m due an eight rounder and then we’ll see where I’m sitting in the rankings, because there’s a few titles out there.
“If the Southern Area’s about then I would fight for a Southern Area.
“But there’s that Commonwealth Silver which people are fighting a lot for lately and also the English.
“There’s a lot of titles about, but like I said, six [rounder], eight [rounder], see where I’m sitting and I’d love that rematch somewhere down the line.”
