The undisputed super featherweight title is up for grabs this Saturday evening at Lux Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, as the champion, Alycia Baumgardner, defends her wealth of gold against the teak-tough Delfine Persoon.

Brinx.TV televise Baumgardner vs Persoon live.

Baumgardner (15-1, 7 KOs) suffered an early career loss over eight to Christina Linardatou, but would crash back into contention in some style, wiping out Terri Harper in four rounds in November 2021 to take the WBC and IBO super featherweight crowns.

After a dominant first defence, ‘The Bomb’ then added the IBF and WBO crowns with a contentious split decision win over Mikaela Mayer in London and completed the full set of belts by taking the WBC title with a wide points win against Elhem Mekhaled last February, knocking the Frenchwoman down twice on route to victory.

The 30-year-old was last seen last July, gaining revenge on Linardatou with a clear points win, but the aftermath saw controversy, with the champion failing a drugs test shortly after the bout.

Baumgardner was cleared of intentionally taking a banned substance in January and resumes her career on Friday against the experienced former WBC lightweight champion Persoon (49-3, 19 KOs).

The Belgian is best-known for pushing Katie Taylor to the limit in 2019, dropping a majority verdict in New York, and she lost by only two points in the rematch on two cards just over a year later to the Irishwoman.

The 39-year-old is on a run of five straight wins and has picked up the WBC Silver belt along the way. She fought twice in 2023, one a close split decision win over Bo Mi Re Shin and the other a six round shutout against Augustina Marisa Belen Rojas.

Prediction: Baumgardner will have rust to shake off, and Persoon should test her early on, but I expect the champion to retain her belt with a points win.

Rodriguez-Naert clash for international title

The vacant WBC International bantamweight title is on the line on the undercard, with Rosalinda Rodriguez going up against Amy Naert.

Florida-based, Rodriguez (13-0, 3 KOs) has completed the eight round course on four occasions and now steps up to ten round level for the first time.

She hasn’t boxed since October 2021, where she scored a second round knockout of a novice Elizabeth Tuani.

Naert (10-3, 3 KOs) has been ten rounds once, but is coming off a six round defeat where she lost all sessions on two cards against the 3-5 Svitlana Vasylevska last December.

Prediction: Rodriguez should be able to dictate in this one and can take the title via a clear points verdict.

Remaining Undercard

Over six rounds at minimumweight, Agustina Solange Vazquez (3-2-2) should get the points win against Sabrina Persona (3-2, 1 KO) and Nicole Schaefer (3-0-1, 3 KOs) should win on the cards against debutant Mariya Agapova at super featherweight.

In four rounders, Natalie Dove (3-0) can get the nod on points at super flyweight over Laddy Mejia (0-0-1).

Super lightweight debutant, Yvonne Flores should also being life in the professional ranks with a points victory against Katharina Lehner (1-1) at super lightweight.

Former Team USA member Stephanie Simon meets Claudia Zamora at super lightweight, where she should bank a points win while Issabel Vazquez, who has been competing in Team Combat league, can do the same against Crystal Van Wyk in a super flyweight affair.

Former Golden Gloves champion, Samantha Ginithan faces off with Martyna Krol at super featherweight, and Ginithan can get the nod on the cards.
