Tony Bellew has warned Derek Chisora against a showdown with rising British heavyweight Johnny Fisher.
Fisher has floated the idea of a potential clash with Chisora since his one round blowout of Alen Babic last month.
Chisora is approaching the final two bouts of his 48-fight professional career, securing arguably the biggest scalp of his career when he overcame Joe Joyce in July.
Bellew, a long-time friend of ‘War’, admits he does not want to see the 40-year-old take on a fighter 15 years his junior.
“Absolutely not, definitely not,” Bellew replied to Instant Casino when asked about a Chisora-Fisher bout.
“I don’t want to see it.
“Johnny Fisher is a young, explosive heavyweight and that is the last thing someone like Derek Chisora needs.
“At the stage of his career where he’s at.
“That fight five years ago is a proper 50-50.
“That’s where Johnny Fisher finds out if he’s got it or not.
“But right now that’s an unfair match in my opinion. You’d see Derek take an awful lot of shots in that fight.”
The pair have history together with Chisora sparring ‘The Romford Bull’ in the lead-up to his fight with Babic.
Bellew, who has squashed a social media callout from Chisora in recent days, believes Fisher should target a showdown with British rival, David Adeleye.
“Someone like David Adeleye, because they’re just different opponents,” the Liverpudlian added.
“They bring a different type of resolve and they’re not going to go down, they’re not going to fall.
“Alen Babic is a lovely fella, I mean he’s a hard nut to crack, but he’s not a heavyweight. He’s a cruiserweight at best.
“As soon as Johnny touched Alen Babic, I knew it was over, and I had a chat with Alen after the match, and I said ‘I didn’t mean to be disrespectful, but I’m just saying exactly what I’m noticing now. You’re not a heavyweight mate.’
“He will give any cruiserweight a cracking fight, but he won’t do anything in the heavyweight division.”
