Ben Shalom has revealed that – despite the fact Eddie Hearn put hands on him earlier this week at the Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn press conference – he actually likes his promotional rival.
Shalom and Hearn clashed at Tuesday’s explosive presser, after Eubank slapped Benn in the face with an egg as they faced off.
A huge melee ensured, during which the Matchroom boss made his way over to the Boxxer CEO and gave him a shove, much to the amusement of boxing fans on social media.
With the dust now settled two days’ on, Shalom has given his thoughts on the altercation – and there don’t appear to be any hard feelings.
Speaking to Jim White and Simon on Jordan on TalkSPORT this morning, the 31-year-old described his fellow promoter as being “like an excitable puppy dog.”
Should he [Eubank] put his hands on another fighter? Probably not, but on this occasion I have to say – it was pretty funny.
I was the one who was assaulted!
Eddie’s just a bit of a balloon. He’s like an excitable puppy dog – one minute he’s angry, one minute he’s happy.

But I like Eddie, how can you not like someone like that. It’s funny.”
“I find him slightly immature at times. But we get on.”
Though tempers were definitely flared following the egg incident on Tuesday, it brought huge attention to the fight and there now appears to be more bad blood between Eubank Jr and Benn.
There is a second press conference due to be held this evening, though it has been confirmed they will be kept well apart and there will not be another face off.

The family rivals will lock horns on April 26 at Tottenham Hotspurs Stadium, almost two and a half years after their original date was shelved due to Benn’s failing of two drugs’ tests.
It will be ‘The Destoyer’s first fight in the in UK since 2022, after the National Anti Doping Panel cleared him to resume his career after a long and drawn out safa.
There is a contractual rematch clause in place, meaning that is all but certain the pair’s ongoing feud will run on well past their showdown this Spring.
