David Benavidez has offered some blunt advice to Mike Tyson following his loss to Jake Paul this past weekend.

Benavidez was one of the millions across the world who witnessed Paul comfortably outbox an extremely faded Tyson, scoring a wide unanimous decision victory.

At 58 years of age, ‘Iron Mike’ looked a shell of the man who ruled the heavyweight division in his prime, and some observers even believe he was carried by the YouTuber and could have been stopped at any given moment.

Despite the fact the pair were only competing over two minute rounds, the bout was fully sanctioned and will go on both of their records.

It was Tyson’s first professional fight since his stoppage loss to Kevin McBride back in 2005 – and Benavidez told Fight Hub TV it should be his last.

“He needs to retire.”

When giving further analysis, ‘The Mexican Monster’ explained he was just relieved to see the former heavyweight king leave the ring unharmed.

“It was a good fight and a good turnout but I don’t want to see Mike Tyson fight no more. Hopefully he hangs it up.

“It was a good show and Mike Tyson went in there and made a good pay cheque and he deserves that. I’m just happy that he didn’t get hurt in there.

“Mike Tyson is Mike Tyson but a 60-year-old Mike Tyson is different.”

In his post-fight interview, Tyson seemed keen on a fight with Jake’s brother Logan, however has since claimed on social media he will not be returning to the ring.

The show reportedly drew around 108 million viewers on Netflix, making it by far the most viewed boxing event in recent memory.

Tyson netted an estimated purse of $20 million, whilst ‘The Problem Child’ is believed to have earned around double that.

Benavidez was speaking at the launch press conference for his February 1st clash with David Morrell, which is widely expected to be one of the toughest of his career.

The pair will lock horns at the T-Mobile Arena on Amazon Prime pay-per-view, with the winner all but guaranteed a shot at a light heavyweight world title.
