Conor Benn has seemingly left no stone unturned for Saturday’s middleweight grudge match against Chris Eubank Jr.
Benn based his training camp for Eubank Jr in Mallorca sparring Denzel Bentley, Bruno Surace and William Scull, all to prepare him for the toughest and biggest challenge of his career.
The addition of Scull to camp was an intriguing one, with the IBF super middleweight champion looking to upset the odds when he faces Canelo Alvarez for the undisputed championship on May 3 in Riyadh.
And according to Conor’s father, Nigel Benn – the former two-weight world champion – his son made the Cuban quit during some intense sparring sessions.
“This guy walked in the gym,” Benn told IFLTV.

“I didn’t know who it was.
“It was this guy called William Scull.
“They were sparring and in round four or five he said, ‘oh no, I need a minute.’
“Conor only does 40 seconds [breaks between rounds].
“Then afterwards, he was sitting down on the ring rope, because he was kind of tired.
“Come to rounds five, six and seven he started feeling the pace and then in round eight Conor put it on him.
“What did he do? Stopped sparring.”

Turki Alalshikh, whose Ring Magazine is running Saturday’s event, has previously said the winner of Eubank Jr vs Benn could face Alvarez next year.
Benn, who usually campaigns at welterweight, fights at middleweight for the first time on Saturday when he collides with Eubank Jr at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, while both men cannot weigh in any more than 170lbs at a second day weigh in on the morning of the bout.
Eubank Jr refuted the size difference at the Grand Arrivals in London on Monday, pointing out to the fact that ‘The Destroyer’ had his last two bouts at the division above welterweight.
“I keep hearing this two weight classes thing,” the 35-year-old said.
“He’s not coming up two weight classes.

“His last fight was at 156lbs.
“He’s putting four pounds on.
“He hasn’t been a welterweight for three years.”
The pair were supposed to have fought in October 2022, but the clash was shelved on fight week after it emerged that Benn had twice tested positive for the banned substance Clomiphene.
The 28-year-old was cleared by the National Anti-Doping Panel in November.
