After a build-up that has totalled over two-and-a-half years, Conor Benn’s crunch showdown with Chris Eubank Jr is now just over 48 hours away.

Eubank Jr and Benn will settle both personal and family scores when they lock horns in front of 65,000 fans at a sold out Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this Saturday night.

There have already been plenty of mind games between the pair, and it seems ‘The Destroyer’ has made one final attempt to gain a psychological edge.

Eubank suffered the first defeat of his career all the way back in 2015, when he was edged out by Billy Joe Saunders over 12 rounds for the British middleweight title.

And Saunders sensationally told the Ring Magazine this afternoon that Benn has requested he is the one to inspect Eubank getting his hands wrapped before their showdown this weekend.

“Conor Benn has actually asked me to come and watch Eubank’s hands get wrapped up. I’m going to have a call with him later to discuss it.
“He wants me to go in there and make sure there’s no cheating with the hand wraps. The one person Eubank will not want to see on the night is me.
“I would like to see Conor Benn knock him out cold and if I can help him do so then I will.

“Strangely enough I was actually in the same hotel as him in London the other week. I hollered at him through a window and he made his driver drive off.
“There was no malice, I was just going to give him a bit of stick, but he’s probably seen me and thought ‘I’m making weight, I could do without this today.
“Trouble is, he might have to see me on fight night now instead.”
Though Eubank’s fight against Saunders was over a decade ago, there has always been plenty of animosity between the pair and Saunders’ comments about wanting to see his old rival knocked out should come as little surprise.

After a drama filled Friday morning, the 35-year-old is set to receive a $500,000 (£375,000) fine for missing weight and will face further penalties should he come in over the 170lb limit on Saturday morning.
