Conor Benn left Carl Froch shocked after giving his prediction for how a fantasy match-up would have played out with his father Nigel Benn.

Froch made his debut over five years after Benn Sr called time on his illustrious career, which saw him win world titles at both middleweight and super middleweight.

’The Cobra’ won multiple super middleweight world titles himself and put the younger Benn on the spot for a prediction on how a fight would have gone if he had fought his dad.

“Genuinely I think my dad irons you out,” the 28-year-old said on Froch On Fighting.

A shocked Froch replied: “Do you think? Ironed out?

“That’s a big call mate. I’ve never been ironed out. Never been stretchered.”

Benn replied: “You never fought Nigel Benn.”

“[I was] put on the floor twice,” the Nottingham man continued.

“Got up both times to win.

“You see you could have just said he beats me.”

Benn conceded he may have been a bit too bold with his prediction and added: “You’re right.

“Do you know what, that was a bit horrible from me.

“Listen, dad I back you mate.

“I would love to have seen it.”

Benn is preparing for the biggest fight of his career when he faces Chris Eubank Jr at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on April 26.

‘The Destroyer’ is moving up a weight class to middleweight having had two fights at 154lbs and the pair meet almost 25 years on from the first of two classic battles between their fathers.

Eubank Jr was fined £100,000 by the British Boxing Board of Control for slapping Benn with an egg at the first press conference to promote their fight back in February.

The egg was in reference to the WBC returning Benn to their rankings after a highly-elevated consumption of eggs was deemed a “reasonable explanation” for his failed drug tests, which saw their original October 2022 meeting shelved.

The pair will not be able to weigh in any more than 10 pounds on the morning of the fight.
