Newly crowned IBF Light Heavyweight World Champion Bernard “The Executioner” Hopkins recently sat down with E! News Correspondent Alicia Quarles following his incredible March 9 win over Tavoris Cloud, which made him the oldest boxer in history to win a world title and the oldest champion in sports history. He broke his own record, which he had set when he captured a Light Heavyweight title in his rematch against Jean Pascal.
Hopkins has been all over the place since the win, and at his age, he’s probably due for a nap. You’ll see a cutout of his face on the Pardon the Interuption on ESPN, and apparently Kourtney Kardashian and Lamar Odom have named their new boxer puppy after him.
Could it get any bigger than that?
The interview, which focuses on how to eat, live and stay fit, airs tonight on E! at 7:00 p.m. ET/PT, 11:30 p.m. ET/PT and tomorrow (Thursday, March 21) at noon ET/PT.
Ultimately, while I’d love to see more boxers getting more mainstream attention for reasons actually directly pertaining to their in-the-ring performances, I’ll settle for any mainstream turn that could help contribute to boxing getting some positive exposure.
