Bernard Hopkins spent his afternoon on Friday with champions of a different sort. The Philadelphia boxing legend recognized “National Hospital Week” as he took time to visit with and sign autographs for patients, doctors and nurses at Shriners Hospital for Children. The patients are from around the world and are being treated for various illnesses at the state-of-the-art facility in The City of Brotherly Love.
“Today was a day that I won’t forget,” said Hopkins.
“I fight in the ring, but these kids are fighting for their lives. I’m inspired by their strength, will and determination. Seeing the smiles on their faces brought me so much happiness and I thank the amazing doctors and nurses at Shriners for everything they are doing for these kids.”
