Betting Odds for Salido vs. Lomachenko:
Vasyl Lomachenko will attempt to make history on March 1st, as he challenges Orlando Salido for a featherweight title in just his second professional fight. The highly decorated amateur — two gold medals and about 396 wins in 400 fights, amongst other notables — is moving up the ladder at an insane rate.
Many are wondering whether it’s too much, too soon. Not the odds makers though, apparently. Lomachenko has been installed as a huge favorite over Salido, creating some very intriguing betting opportunities here.
Betting Odds: Salido vs. Lomachenko
- Vasyl Lomachenko: -600
- Orlando Salido: +400
Analysis
The Lomachenko vs. Salido odds are surprising to say the least. Obviously Lomachenko has a great deal of hype behind him, and huge fan support as well. He’s one of the best amateur fighters ever, and the 2013 Prospect of the Year, after all. But Salido is no slouch, far from it. The guy has been a titlist on multiple occasions, and has been in with many of the best fighters in and around his division. He’s as tough and determined as they come, and he’s not an easy night for any fighter.
Salido at +400 here is almost too good to ignore. There are simply so many questions in this fight for Lomachenko — how will he hold up in a 12-round contest without ever having sniffed a fight remotely that long? What’s his chin like? Can he survive a physical, rough-and-tumble affair against a rugged guy like Salido?

Bottom Line
In a straight up contest to pick the winner, I lean towards Lomachenko. I’m a believer in his talents and his ambitions. Yet, as a 6-to-1 favorite, putting your money down on him doesn’t make much sense.
Salido though, more than capable and at +400, is an extremely tempting bet. That’s great value on a fighter whom many believe should actually be favored to win. The Salido vs. Lomachenko odds will definitely fluctuate before fight night, so be sure to take a look to see where they stand before getting in on the action.
