Betting on Bradley vs. Alexander: Analysis

Timothy Bradley has been in the spotlight longer than Devon Alexander has been, at least relatively speaking, but a few short months ago the pulse of the boxing community was that Devon The Great should be the favorite in the bout. However, Alexander than looked less than stellar in squeaking past Andriy Kotelnik, and the opinions of most shifted back towards Desert Storm.

Thus, Bradley is a fairly large favorite for the bout, sitting at -220, and even at -250 on some boxing betting websites. Some would say that’s far too high of a margin for such a close bout, but between that, and Alexander’s underdog positioning at +175, there’s a lot of good action to be had.

It all depends on who you favor in the contest. Alexander has a more technical approach, working behind his jab and deploying classical boxing, while he has also developed more power. Bradley pressures and breaks his man down physically and mentally, and can seemingly hold up under intense fire. It’s a battle of styles, but it seems to be pretty enticing right now to take Alexander at a +175 clip with the Bradley vs. Alexander betting odds we’ve seen so far.

With their styles, and the fact that Bradley has all but seemed immovable in his career, it’s no surprise at the very widespread odds seen in the over/under for the bout. It’s set low though at 9.5 rounds, which could be a good call if you think Bradley’s pressure can fold Alexander, or if you think Alexander has the pop to finish off Bradley if he gets him hurt, like Kendall Holt did.
