Former Lightweight titleholder Brandon ” Bam Bam” Rios took part in an opening press conference for his upcoming fight against Diego Chaves of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Also on hand for the press conference (although Chaves was not present) was Jessie Vargas and Anton Novikov, who will be squaring off in the co-feature. As always, the Top Rank Knockouts were also on hand to help announce the upcoming clashes, which take place Saturday, August 2 in the Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.
Rios of Oxnard, Ca., making his eagerly-anticipated 2014 debut, in the main event against Chaves. Novikov, from Chelyabinsk, Russia will be challenging undefeated Vargas, the “Pride of Las Vegas”. Rios is also now officially campaigning at the welterweight division, so it will be interesting to see how he looks when he’s not in there against somebody of the likes of Manny Pacquiao.
Also appearing on the card is the unbeaten Olympian and prospect Jose Ramirez.
