Lucien Reid has signed a promotional deal with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing and will make his professional debut on the huge May 30 bill at The O2.
‘Lethal’ Lucien makes the switch to the paid ranks after a successful amateur career that saw him claim a Senior ABA Elite 54kg title in 2013 and was a finalist at 56kgs the following year.
Reid, trained by Peter Sims in Essex, will start life in the pros as a Super Bantamweight and promoter Hearn is expecting big things from the 21 year old West Ham ABC product.
“Lucien is a great addition to the Matchroom Boxing team,” said Hearn. “He is a really exciting talent and very popular in London, I am sure he will be a big draw on our shows and what a great bill to make your debut on.”
Reid is the latest addition to a huge card in Greenwich as Kevin Mitchell challenges Jorge Linares for the WBC World Lightweight title, Lee Selby faces IBF World Featherweight king Evgeny Gradovich and Olympic gold medal king Anthony Joshua MBE meets former Heavyweight World title challenger Kevin ‘Kingpin’ Johnson – with further exciting fights to be added soon.
