Goossen Promotions announced this morning the signing of top junior lightweight contender Bryan Vasquez of San Jose, Costa Rica.
The 27-year-old Vasquez, sporting a record of 34-1-0 (18KO’s), is the former WBA Interim’ Junior Lightweight Champion, a crown he earned with a fifth round stoppage of Rene Gonzalez on October 26, 2013.
“I’m very happy to sign with Goossen Promotions,” said Vasquez. “They have a long history of working with some of the best fighters in boxing and I’m confident they can take my career to the next level.”
Said Tom Brown of Goossen Promotions, “Bryan has all the tools and intangibles of a world champion. He’s a very highly skilled, tough disciplined fighter and we look forward to working with him on bigger opportunities in the future.”
Stated Mario Vegas, manager of Vasquez, “This is a very important step in Bryan’s career, and we are pleased to be working with Tom Brown and Goossen Promotions. It’s been a very smooth working relationship so far.”

Vasquez defeated Jose Felix Jr. on April 12, 2014 by unanimous decision in the first defense of his WBA ‘Interim’ Junior Lightweight Title in Las Vegas.
Most recently Vasquez defeated Sergio Thompson on December 20, 2014 with a ninth round stoppage, however he lost the WBA ‘Interim’ Junior Lightweight Title for failing to make weight for the contest which took place in Cancun, Mexico.
