On Wednesday, July 8th, DiBella Entertainment’s Broadway Boxing series will return to the famed B.B. King Blues Club and Grill in midtown Manhattan. The exciting 10-bout card will be headlined by junior lightweight prospect Bryant “Peewee” Cruz (14-0, 7KO’s) as he puts his undefeated record on the line against the heavy-handed Martin Cardona (19-5, 14KO’s) in a matchup scheduled for eight rounds.
Cruz, a native of Portchester, NY, has steadily become one of the more popular fighters throughout the entire New York City area since turning pro in December of 2012, following a second-place finish at the 2012 National Golden Gloves. Cruz kicked off a successful 2015 with an impressive and gutsy performance in February, where he got off the canvas early against Jorge Pazos to win a convincing eight-round unanimous decision. Cruz was sidelined for a couple months after the bout, as he allowed a nagging elbow injury to heel.
Recently relocating his training camp to Houston, TX, Cruz has linked up with world-renowned trainer Ronnie Shields. The 25-year-old Cruz is looking to break into the national spotlight this year, but to do so, he must first get by the dangerous Cardona.
Also set to see action on the card in separate eight-round bouts will be exciting junior middleweight prospect and former #1 US amateur Patrick Day (10-1-1, 6KO’s) as he squares off against Lenwood Dozier and Brooklyn’s own undefeated Shawn Cameron (9-0, 4KO’s) as he takes on Francisco Javier Reza in their eight-round junior middleweight matchup.
