Joe Calzaghe has weighed in with his prediction for this weekend’s mammoth clash between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn.
Eubank and Benn will finally settle their long-lasting beef when they lock horns in front of 65,000 people at a sold-out Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday night.
The pre-fight build-up between the two family rivals has captured the attention of the public, with hype exploding after the egg slap incident at February’s launch press conference.
Though the bookmakers are struggling to to split the pair at the time of writing, most observers seem to believe Eubank’s natural size advantage could prove the deciding factor.
And in a recent interview with talkSPORT Boxing, Calzaghe admitted he was “edging” towards a victory for ‘Next Gen.’

“Yeah I think it’s a tough one to call.
“Talent-wise I think they’re on the same sort of level but size normally wins fights so I sort of edge with Eubank as he’s the bigger guy naturally.”
The polarising fight will take place at Eubank’s natural home of middleweight, despite the fact Benn has fought two weight classes below at welterweight for the majority of his career.
However, a 10 pound next day rehydration clause is in place, which some pundits believe could hinder Eubank enough to swing the odds in Benn’s favour.
Both men also have the option to trigger a second clash regardless of the outcome this weekend, meaning there is every chance fight fans could see them do it all over again later in the year.

Benn’s father Nigel has been heavily involved in the build up, however the same cannot be said for Chris Sr, who has been a vocal opponent of the bout and even called his son a “disgrace” in an explosive interview last week.
Calzaghe, who is widely regarded as one of Britain’s greatest ever fighters, actually shared the ring with Eubank Sr in of the enigmatic Brighton man’s last ever outings back in 1998.
