Canelo Alvarez Fights Re-Broadcast on Solo Boxeo Friday Nov 11th

A date that people around the world will remember is this coming Friday, 11/11/11, as a date that represents a unique numerical occurrence, but for fight fans, it’s the day of the Canelo Takeover on TeleFutura’s “Sólo Boxeo Tecate Classics.”  The special edition will featuring the re-broadcast of two memorable fights of unbeaten WBC Super Welterweight World Champion Canelo Alvarez which should get fans amped up for his upcoming November 26 against Kermit “The Killer” Cintron which will be televised on HBO’s Boxig After Dark from Mexico City.

The special presentation of “Sólo Boxeo Tecate” is presented by Golden Boy Promotions and sponsored by Cerveza Tecate and AT&T and will air on TeleFutura at 12:30am ET/PT (11:30pm CT).

In the “Classics” main event which took place on May 1, 2010 in Las Vegas, Mexico’s Alvarez was introduced to fans in the fight capital of the world for a serious test against longtime contender Jose Miguel Cotto.  Cotto pushed the younger Alvarez further than he had been to that point in his career, but Alvarez showed his talent and poise in stopping the veteran in the ninth round.  A star was born that night and American fight fans were eager to see him fight in the United States again.

In his next fight stateside, he faced granite-chinned former World Champion Carlos “Tata” Baldomir and knocked him out in just six rounds on September 18, 2010 in Los Angeles.  The victory, which will be the “Classic” co-feature, marked a step in Alvarez’s career and helped to further establish him as a star in the United States.
