Canelo Alvarez vs. Alfredo Angulo Weights:

  • Canelo Alvarez: 155 lbs
  • Alfredo Angulo: 154.5 lbs

The contracted limit for this fight was at 155 lbs, so both guys are on weight here. Canelo received a huge reception from the crowd, as you can expect. Angulo made weight, but he and trainer Virgil Hunter didn’t look very happy. Maybe concerned they overshot by an extra half pound, and worked a bit too hard? Who knows.

Canelo and Angulo were both all business at the weigh-in. There was a fairly long, intense stare down, with the two guys just an inch or so apart from one another. No trash-talking, just intensity. These guys will do their best to live up to the “toe to toe” billing.

Much of the rest of the talk about the Toe to Toe PPV has to do with all of the changes to the card. First, Omar Figueroa was injured, and so his first with Ricardo Alvarez was cancelled. Alvarez was rescheduled for a match with Sergio Thompson, but not on the PPV. Instead, Jorge Linares vs. Nihito Arakawa was bumped up into televised action.

Now, Carlos Molina vs. Jermall Charlo has been cancelled due to Molina’s legal issues. As such, the Alvarez vs. Thompson fight is now the 4th fight in the televised lineup.

With all of that said, here are the full Canelo vs. Angulo undercard weigh-in results:

  • Leo Santa Cruz: 122 lbs
  • Cristian Mijares: 122 lbs

Santa Cruz and Mijares each come in at the limit. Santa Cruz got a huge welcome from the nearly all Mexican crowd, biggest cheers besides for Canelo of course. Mijares has the crafty experience to bring to the table, but he’s likely too far past his best in terms of age and weight to hold up in this one.

  • Jorge Linares: 134.5 lbs
  • Nihito Arakawa: 134.5 lbs

Both guys made weight without a problem. Linares seems huge compared to Arakawa, but we all know how much Arakawa has inside of him. Should be a fun fight to watch.

  • Ricardo Alvarez: 135 lbs
  • Sergio Thompson: 135 lbs

Both of these guys are on weight and in shape. Alvarez definitely more muscular in appearance, but Thompson is the hard hitter of the two.
