In the opening bout of the Canelo Alvarez-Amir Khan HBO pay-per-view event from Las Vegas, Curtis Stevens made quick work of the previously unbeaten Patrick Teixeira.
Stevens scored a second round TKO victory, after landing an overhand right that put Teixeira down to the canvas. Teixeira beat the count, but the referee believed he had seen enough, and waved things off. There wasn’t much to this fight. Teixeira proved to be an easy target, and when he got hit, didn’t have much of a chin.
Stevens, now nicknamed the Cerebral Assassin as opposed to Showtime, improved to 28-5 with 21 KOs. For Teixeira, it’s the first loss of his career.
