New York-based Uprising Promotions, in association with WBO Middleweight Champion Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin, has confirmed the date and venue of its next boxing card, which will be held on September 5th at the Brooklyn Masonic Temple at 317 Clermont Avenue #4 in Brooklyn. Among those being featured on the exciting card will be the talented roster of Uprising Promotions fighters, including lightweight Wesley Ferrer (4-0, 3 KOs), super featherweight Angel Luna (9-0, 6 KOs), junior welterweight Italy Martinez (1-1-1, 1 KO) and the highly anticipated professional debut of Irish junior welterweight Darren Mangan.
“I am very excited about the lineup that we have put together so far. We already have four exciting fights on deck,” said Ronson Frank, President of Uprising Promotions. “Wesley Ferrer and Angel Luna are two great young fighters, and we are expecting big things from them. We are also looking forward to seeing what Darren Mangan can bring to the table, and Italy Martinez is another guy with a promising future ahead of him.
“We are currently negotiating with some other fighters, and we have overall been receiving a really good vibe from everyone. I am getting really excited about the new venue, seeing these guys in action and taking another step toward our future goal, which is taking these guys all the way to a world championship.”
As a professional fighter, Frank is a perfect 17-0 with nine knockouts, and one person with whom he has shared much blood and sweat is WBO Middleweight Champion Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin (31-0, 22 KOs). Both men were trained for an extensive period of time by the internationally renowned Colin Morgan, who is currently preparing Darren Mangan for his professional debut on the September 5th card.
“My relationship with Peter goes back quite a few years,” Frank reflected. “We had the same trainer, Colin Morgan, and we grew close to the point where he became like my little brother. It has just been a natural progression where we continued to have an interest in what the other was doing. His top priority is being an exciting world champion fighter, and having him involved is a great complement to what I am doing at the promotional level. Having a world champion involved is something we want to bring to our shows, and we see the collaboration as being something that will be very beneficial for the both of us.”
Opponents and additional fights for September 5th will be named in the upcoming weeks. Tickets for the card at the Brooklyn Masonic Temple are priced at $50 for general admission and $100 for ringside seating. There is also a table option with dinner, unlimited beer/wine and seating with a celebrity fighter. For pricing on those tables, call (516) 451-6773.
Proud supporters of the FDNY and NYPD, Uprising Promotions is also pleased to announce that a fundraiser will be taking place on September 5th to benefit children with autism. Proceeds from the night will be donated to The School For Language and Communication Development in Glen Cove, New York.
