Undisputed female Welterweight Champion Cecilia Brækhus (27-0-0, 7 KOs) takes on German Ramona “Wild Dragon” Kühne (23-1-0, 8 KOs) at the Klitschko vs Fury world title clash on October 24 in Düsseldorf. ”The First Lady of Boxing” returns to the ring 11 months after successfully defending her titles against Jennifer Ratzke in an unanimous points victory.
“This will be a great challenge for me after my injury and great fight for the both of us. Kühne is a very skilled boxer and she’s fast. It motivates me a lot. But I’m much more powerful than her. I can promise a fight worth seeing, but there’s no doubt she’ll end up in lots of trouble,” Brækhus said.
Brækhus’ opponent, the WBO/WIBF and WBF Female Super Featherweight World Champion Ramona Kühne, last entered the ring on August 1, winning an unanimous points victory against Austrian Doris Koehle.
Kühne’s 13 successfull world title affairs include bouts for light welterweight, lightweight, and super featherweight titles earlier in her career. Now she’s stepping up to face the world’s best female boxer in the sport today.
”I’m very eager to show my true fans – especially the Norwegian audience, who has supported me faithfully throughout my whole career – that I’m still the undisputed no. 1,” Brækhus said.
Since middle of August, Brækhus has been training in the legendary Kronk Gym in Detroit, US, with her new trainer Johnathon Banks, to prepare for her undercard fight at the 55,000-seat ESPIRIT arena in Düsseldorf. This week she joined Wladimir Klitschko’s training camp in Hollywood, Florida, and at the end of September the two world champion teams will move to Austria to prepare for their title fights on October 24.
“Training with Johnathon has taken my boxing to a new level. It’s been hard, but my fans will see a stronger, faster and wiser champion when I return to the ring in Düsseldorf. I can’t wait,” Brækhus said.
The complete showdown at ESPRIT arena in Düsseldorf will be available on pay-per-view (PPV) in the Nordic countries on Viasat’s satellite platform, and online via Viaplay service across Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland.
The main fight of Wladimir Klitschko vs. Tyson Fury will be broadcast live by RTL (German-speaking countries), Sky Sports Box Office in Great Britain, and HBO in the USA.
