Eddie Chambers vs. Wlad Klitschko is A Go For March, 20
A few months ago, Eddie Chambers sat down with ProBoxing-Fans.com for an exclusive interview. In that interview he said he hoped that Wladimir Klitschko would be ready to fight again by March of 2010, and that if he was plans were coming together for him to challenge for Klitschko’s title. Of course, he also said he would put Klitschko through a meat grinder when they fought, detailing his plan of action for a potential bout. Well, all of that is now finalized, and Klitschko vs. Chambers is set for March, 20 2010. So how will Chambers hold up?
Chambers represents the best of the American heavyweights, a group that has been collectively beaten and battered by the Klitschko brothers, particularly Vitali as of late. However, Chambers has the boxing skills, work-rate and commitment that many of those other fighters were lacking. While he will be a substantial underdog against Wlad, Chambers does have a legitimate chance and should absolutely be taken seriously as a contending opponent.
Since Berto vs. Mosley got canceled, HBO has some more money in their budget and looks to be moving in the direction to television Chambers vs. Klitschko. It’s a fight that absolutely should be on the network, especially considering some of the terrible mismatches and wastes of money that HBO has aired in the last year or two in some of the last attractive Wlad vs. and Vitali vs. fights. Chambers vs. Klitschko represents one of the best fights the division has to offer right now, and it’s an interesting clash of styles as well.
