Chantelle Cameron added the IBF super lightweight title to her WBC crown with a hard fought points win over the tough American, Mary McGee, at the O2 Arena, London.

Cameron also added the Ring Magazine belt to her collection as a result of her impressive win. ‘Il Capo’ was making the second defence of her WBC strap that she had won in October last year in a shutout victory over Adriana dos Santos Araujo. McGee was also making a second defence of her crown that she won in December 2019 with a final round stoppage win against Ana Laura Esteche.

The card was due to be topped by Dillian Whyte’s tough assignment against Otto Wallin, but Whyte had to withdraw due to injury.

It was toe to toe action throughout in this one, and the pair exchanged at regular intervals in a thoroughly watchable contest.

Cameron’s movement and cleaner work ultimately allowed her to control the action, and she was deservedly adjudged the winner by scores of 100-90, 99-91 and 99-92.

Alen Babic made it nine straight wins and nine straight knockouts as a professional, as he knocked out former world title challenger, Eric Molina, in two rounds. Molina was dropped almost immediately by a right hand, and was floored three more times in the second as he was no match for the Croatian, who promptly called out Dave Allen post fight.

Craig ’Spider’ Richards rebounded from defeat in a world title challenge to Dmitry Bivol last time out, and he claimed the vacant WBA International light heavyweight title with a sixth round stoppage of Marek Matyja, Richards let his hands go in round six, with a chopping right hand leaving the Pole reeling. A follow up attack of spiteful shots caused the referee to intervene.

Jorge David Castaneda took the vacant WBC International Silver super featherweight title with a majority decision win over Youssef Khoumari. Scores of 97-94 and 96-94 in Castaneda’s favour rendered a third tally of 95-95 redundant.

The second heavyweight attraction on the bill saw Johnny Fisher move to 4-0 with a second round stoppage of Alvaro Terrero.

Also at heavyweight, Thomas Carty recorded his second pro win, halting Igors Vasiljevs in three. Jordan Thompson took a round to deal with Piotr Podlucki, while John Hedges needed all six rounds to see off Ben Thomas, with the referee seeing the contest 60-54 in Hedges’ favour.

Ellie Scotney impressed as she took a 79-73 win on the referee’s card after eight rounds against Eva Cantos at super bantamweight.
