Derek Chisora has revealed that Oleksandr Usyk is the best fighter he’s faced in his 48-fight professional career.
Chisora faced Usyk in 2020 in what was the Ukrainian’s second fight at heavyweight, after moving up from cruiserweight, where he won the undisputed title.
Despite dropping a unanimous decision, many feel the Finchley man gave Usyk one of the toughest tests of his career.
And Chisora admits the 37-year-old southpaw trumps the likes of Tyson Fury and Vitali Klitschko as the best opponent he’s shared the ring with.
“Usyk,” the 40-year-old replied when asked on talkSPORT who the best fighter he’s faced.
“You can’t box that guy.
“He’s an animal.
“I have shared the ring with a lot of top fighters, but there’s no doubt it’s Usyk, because the way he gets you going, his movement is there.
“Every time you have to adjust, do you understand?”
Usyk, who went on to beat Anthony Joshua twice and Daniel Dubois, became the first undisputed heavyweight titlist since Lennox Lewis achieved the feat in 1999 and the maiden champion in the four-belt era in May, when he overcame Fury by split decision in Saudi Arabia.
The pair are set to run it back on December 21, also in Saudi Arabia, although without the IBF belt at stake this time after Usyk relinquished it, with Dubois defending that title against Joshua on September 21 at Wembley Stadium.
Chisora upset the odds in July, flooring Joe Joyce on route to claiming a unanimous decision victory over the Putney man.
‘War’ has been linked to a third fight with Dillian Whyte and has confirmed that he will retire after having two more bouts.
“I’ve got 50 fights in my head and I have to get to 50.
“Yes I will [retire after 50 fights].
“100% I’m out.
“You’re gonna see one [fight] this year and you’ll send a big one, sending off next year.”
