Frazer Clarke suffered a suspected fractured cheekbone in his loss to Fabio Wardley, Frank Warren has revealed.
Wardley blitzed Clarke in a stunning first round knockout in their rematch in Riyadh on Saturday, seven months after the pair served up a thrilling draw at the O2 Arena.
Wardley caught the Burton man with a huge right hand and after returning fire, the British and Commonwealth champion unloaded a volley of blows which sunk the 33-year-old to the floor.
The referee wasted no time in waving off the contest and concern began over Clarke’s health after he was seen being given oxygen in his corner and suffering a dent in the side of his head.
And Warren, who promotes Wardley, said he believes Clarke suffered an injury to his cheekbone, after fears were raised after images went viral of the 2020 Olympic bronze medalist with a dent on the side of his head.
Wardley sent a heartfelt message to his countryman, wishing him a speedy recovery after his injury.
“Look I always say a prayer before my fight,” the 29-year-old told Sky Sports post-fight.
“I always ask for me and my opponent to walk and leave healthy.
“I know it’s the hurt business and this is our job at the end of the day, but I want whoever I’m in with to go back to their family healthy and safe.

“So I wish him all the best.
“I hope he’s well.
“I hope I can speak to him after and just give him a hug and just say thank you, because those 12 rounds we shared before were something special to us and to boxing.
“So I just hope he’s healthy and ok.”
It remains unclear whether Clarke was sent to hospital and proboxing-fans.com has reached out to a member of his team for comment.
