Cotto further solidified his status at 154 lbs with his triumphant, revenge victory over Margarito. Of course, in addition to last night’s Cotto vs. Margarito 2 fight, a few weeks ago we also saw the thrilling Alfredo Angulo vs. James Kirkland match. Kirkland scored a huge win there to vault himself back into very good position in the division. So there’s a lot of movement in the top 10 there, and the new rankings are definitely worth a view.

On Showtime, the rematch between Abner Mares and Joseph Agbeko was held. Mares defended the title he won from Agbeko, and was able to do so without any controversy this time around. Meanwhile, Anselmo Moreno got the biggest win of his career over Vic Darchinyan, and after Nonito’s Donaire last fight, he is moving up and out of the division, leaving a vacancy at the top. So it’s another division with a ton of shake up in the rankings right now.

The heavyweight division was also busy on Saturday, with a twin bill in Finland featuring Robert Helenius vs. Dereck Chisora and Alexander Povetkin vs. Cedric Boswell. Helenius was lucky to escape with a controversial verdict over the more impressive Chisora, and so the top 10 there will need to be reevaluated as well.
Thanks for taking a peek at all of our updated boxing weight class rankings. The Cotto vs. Margarito results are definitely what most people are interested in right now, but the rest of the weekend was filled with great action as well.
