Miguel Cotto & Sergio Martinez Weigh-in At the Theater at Madison Square Garden; Passes Available for 3,000 Fans —
The final face-off between three-division world champion and the Pride of Puerto Rico Miguel Cotto and Argentina’s favorite son Sergio “Maravilla” Martinez, before their world championship rumble, will take place at the official weigh-in tomorrow, Friday, June 6, in The Theater at Madison Square Garden.
The Cotto vs. Martinez weigh-in will also be open to 3,000 lucky fans. Complimentary passes will be distributed on Friday. Fans may line up in North Breezeway – adjacent to main box office off 7th Avenue and 32nd Street, beginning at Noon.
Doors to the theater will open at 2:00 p.m. The undercard weigh-in will begin at 2:30 p.m. Cotto and Martínez will step on the scale at approximately 3:10 p.m. ET.
Promoted by Miguel Cotto Promotions, Top Rank®, DiBella Entertainment and Sampson Boxing, in association with Maravilla Box, PS4, Tecate and Madison Square Garden, the Cotto vs. Martínez World Middleweight Championship event will take Saturday, June 7, at the “Mecca of Boxing,” Madison Square Garden. It will be produced and distributed live by HBO Pay-Per-View®, beginning at 9:00 p.m. ET / 6:00 p.m. PT.
Cotto (38-4, 31 KOs), of Caguas, Puerto Rico, who has sold more tickets to The Garden than any other fighter in this millennium, will attempt to become Puerto Rico’s first four-division world champion while Martínez (51-2-2, 28 KOs), of Quilmes, Buenos Aires, Argentina, who has never lost a world championship fight, defends the title he first won in 2010. Both gladiators boast a combined record of 89-6-2 (59 KOs) – a winning percentage of 92% and a victory by knockout ratio of 66%.
