Terence Crawford has vowed to prove that he is the number one fighter in the world when he faces Errol Spence Jr.
Crawford will finally face Spence Jr in one of the most highly-anticipated fights of the year for the undisputed welterweight championship in Las Vegas on July 29, live on SHOWTIME pay-per-view.
The American pair will put their undefeated records on the line as well as their world titles and WBO titlist, Crawford insists that victory over ‘The Truth’ at the T-Mobile Arena will see him universally recognised as the world’s best fighter.
“I’m excited, I’m happy,” the 35-year-old told Stephen A Smith on ESPN’s First Take.
“The fans are happy. Everybody”s happy. We’re here now.
“I will show the world why I’m the best fighter on the planet and everybody needs to tune in July 29 to watch me and Errol Spence go out there and put on a tremendous show.”
Spence Jr will put his WBA, ‘super’, WBC and IBF belts on the line when he ends a 15 month lay-off since stopping Yordenis Ugas in Texas last April.
Three-weight world champion, Crawford has made six defence of his WBO crown with his last a sixth round stoppage over David Avanesyan in December.
‘Bud’ admits his showdown with Spence Jr is a career-defining occasion.
“Every fight is like that for me,” the Nebraska native added.
“Every fight is meaningful. I need to win this fight.
“I’m 100% certain Errol feels the same. So there’s a lot riding on this fight. This is the biggest fight in boxing in decades.
