Terence Crawford feels that Lamont Roach was “robbed” of a seismic upset victory over Gervonta Davis in Brooklyn on Saturday.

Roach, who headed into the clash as a major underdog, gave Davis all he could handle in a majority decision draw at Barclays Center.

Many felt the Washington man had done enough to hand ‘Tank’ a first professional defeat, particularly after the 30-year-old took a knee in the ninth round, although referee Steve Willis controversially did not rule a knockdown.

Four-weight titlist, Crawford was one of many who felt Roach should have been crowned WBA lightweight champion.

“Roach won and that should have been called a knock down,” the 37-year-old wrote on X just before the decision was read out.

“Let’s see what happens.”

After a majority draw verdict was read out, with one judge ruling 115-113 in favour of Davis, overruled by two judges scoring the bout 114-114, the Omaha man added: “They robbed that boy and it’s crazy.

“I never seen someone take a knee and they don’t count it as a knock down.

“Must of forgot the rules for tonight.”

After touching down in the ninth round, Davis ran over to his corner, where trainer Calvin Ford wiped his face with a towel.

The Baltimore man, who clung on to his WBA title, claimed that he had his hair braided two days before the fight and grease from the hair product was irritating his eye.

“I just got my hair done two days ago and she put grease in my s***,” he said in his post-fight interview.

“You know when you’re sweating and things like that and it burnt my eye.”

Roach, who moved up from 130lbs where he holds the WBA title, called for a rematch afterwards.

“I’m just a little disappointed in this decision,” the 29-year-old said.

“I definitely thought I won, but we can run it back.

“Gervonta is a great fighter.”
