Daniel Dubois finally returns on Saturday night, as well as 1000 fans at the Telford International Centre for his clash with Bogdan Dinu.
Dubois has been out of the ring since a tenth round stoppage defeat to Joe Joyce in November, but can get straight back into title contention when he faces seasoned Romanian, Dinu for the WBA Interim Heavyweight title.
‘Dynamite’ was widely criticised for the manner of his first professional loss to Joyce, after he took a knee and failed to beat the count, with his left eye almost completely shut from consistent blows.
The injury left the Londoner with a fractured orbital bone and nerve damage, but the 23-year-old has made a full recovery and has a point to prove, in front of the first fans inside an indoor boxing arena in Britain since 1000 attended Anthony Joshua’s successful unified heavyweight world title defence against Kubrat Pulev at Wembley Arena in December.
Dinu has just two losses on his slate to world level operators in Pulev and Jarrell Miller, who he has been sparring with in the build-up.
It has been all change for Dubois, who has switched trainers to Shane McGuigan, after splitting with Martin Bowers and spending a brief period with Mark Tibbs and he has vowed a devastating victory.
“Over six months of frustrations are ready to come out,” Dubois said to Queensberry Promotions.
“You are going to see the best version of Daniel Dubois in that ring on June 5th. I will beat Bogdan Dinu up and knock him out.
“I need to do what I do, show people why they called me ‘Dynamite’ in the first place.
“It’ll be a devastating performance, I promise you. A huge knockout to put myself back on the map.”
