On December 2, Giving Tuesday, Danny “Swift” Garcia and his family will kick off “Championing for the Philadelphia Community” with a tour of outpouring for families in need this holiday season.
Danny will begin the tour by visiting the Burlington Coat Factory at Center City in Philadelphia to provide families supported by the Catholic Social Services – Casa Del Carmen charity with hundreds of warm clothing items like coats, scarves, hats and mittens. The Hunting Park based charity, Casa Del Carmen, is dedicated to serving men, women and children in need within the Latino community. Danny will also meet with families at the charity to provide additional warm weather items, sign autographs and take pictures with those in attendance.
“I grew up in Hunting Park and Juniata Park,” said Garcia. “In the winter my family would sleep in one room around a heater to stay warm. I understand firsthand the support families need during the winter season and this is one of many enduring efforts I am planning in the Philadelphia community.”
Following the delivery of winter clothing items to Casa Del Carmen, Danny will travel to Universal Vare Charter School (UVCS) and empower students to follow their dreams in their efforts to attain success. He will also supplement the students’ education by supporting a UVCS after school enrichment program. He will be visiting three additional schools during the month of December and will be giving each a financial donation to support their students’ after school enrichment programs.
Danny dedicated himself to boxing at the young age of 10. Under the tutelage of his father, Danny rose through the ranks and he credits the sport for having saved his and his family’s lives. In addition to being a World Champion fighter, Danny is a successful entrepreneur with several businesses in Philadelphia.
