Never one to miss an opportunity to give Eddie Hearn some stick, Oscar De La Hoya has put the boot in following Anthony Joshua’s loss to Daniel Dubois last weekend.

De La Hoya was one of the millions who witnessed Hearn’s premier heavyweight Joshua get knocked out in five rounds against Dubois at Wembley Stadium, thus falling short in his bid to become a three-time heavyweight champion of the world.

Despite promoters now working together almost harmoniously due to the financial influence of Turki Alalshikh, there is still clearly plenty of ill feeling from the Golden Boy boss towards his British rival, whom he has traded verbals with for years.

There are big question marks over where ‘AJ’ goes following his brutal defeat to Dubois, with some in the boxing world even calling for him to hang up the gloves altogether.

And on the latest edition of De La Hoya’s now infamous ‘clapback Thursdays’ series, he went as far to accuse Hearn of “fumbling Joshua’s career.

“Anthony Joshua was knocked out in the fifth round by Dubois!

“It was actually an amazing fight, an entertaining fight and I like AJ. However, this was another huge L for Eddie Hearn. He is 0-11 to Frank Warren this year!

“This continues the Matchroom curse. If you sign with Matchroom, you’re either guaranteed to lose, or get injured.

“To make matters worse, Eddie Hearn faced off with his old buddy Devin Haney in the crowd at Wembley.

“Eddie – you can’t build a fighter to save your life.

“Anthony Joshua had the world at his fingertips and you found a way to fumble his career.”

Hearn is yet to issue a response, though given Joshua is a two-time champion of the world and one of the richest British sportsmen of all time, he could hardly be blamed for disagreeing.

That said, he and the rest of the Finchley man’s team have been warned to be cautious about their man’s next move, as another defeat would surely spell the end for the 34-year-old.
