Golden Boy Promotions and Showtime have been informed thatDemetrius Andrade is unavailable for his scheduled world title defense against Jermell Charlo on Saturday, Dec. 13 on Showtime at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
At this time, it is unclear whether Andrade vs. Charlo will be rescheduled for a later date. Discussions are ongoing, and additional details will be announced as soon as they are finalized.
The event is headlined by Amir Khan and Devon Alexander with a co-feature pitting Keith Thurman against undefeated Leonard Bundu.
Abner Mares and Victor Ortiz are also scheduled to appear on Dec. 13 in separate bouts.

Not only is it unclear if Andrade vs. Charlo comes back together (I’d say unlikely) it’s also unclear what in the world “unavailable” means. Andrade and his camp have been calling everyone out and have kept themselves in the spotlight by talking and talking. They took this fight, a high risk, low reward fight, but are now backing away — for reasons that haven’t been disclosed.
The bottom line is that it looks like Andrade and his team need to worry less about positioning themselves in the media and more about getting things done in the ring.
