Undefeated southpaw Derrick “Take it to the Bank” Webster (17-0, 8 KOs) has signed a deal to be represented by GH3 Promotions. With the signing, the 6-foot-4 New Jersey native, who has fought everywhere from middleweight to light heavyweight, looks to continue his move up the rankings at super middleweight to get himself closer to an eventual world title shot.
“I feel really comfortable with GH3 Promotions, and I am very excited for what they can do for me and my career,” said Webster, who is also inked to DandD Management. “It was nice to hear that they already had a plan for me, an actual timeline for what they wanted to do with me and where they see me at. They look at me as not only an athlete, but also as a human being and a person. I like for people to look at me as Derrick and not just Take it to the Bank. They see me as a person, and that was very important to me.”
Throughout his five-plus year career, Webster has had an extremely difficult time solidifying opponents who are willing to fight him. More times than not, he has received dates to fight, only to see multiple opponents pull out of the bout and leave him with no opposition come fight night. Webster looks to now curb that constant frustration by signing with GH3 Promotions, and his team is currently working to nail down his next bout for late November.
“GH3 Promotions just got a world class southpaw, and now I’m going to show them that,” Webster confirmed. “I’m going to show out for GH3 because they came to the table with belief in me. I have to show out for them to let everyone know exactly why they signed me.”
Anyone who has seen Webster in the ring is well aware of the extreme talent that is possessed by the 6-foot-4 undefeated southpaw, but the Glassboro resident had a little message for those people who may question his ability.
“The same thing they’re sleeping on is the same thing that is going to wake them up,” he stated. “I understand that I am a hard person to match, and some people weren’t willing to take a chance on me because of that. I still never lost my faith because I knew God had a plan for me. I’m excited to put all of the frustration behind me and move forward with GH3. And for all those people who doubted me – catch my smoke.”
