Don King and Bob Arum, the heads of two of the classic boxing promotional companies of all-time, are joining forces for the upcoming Miguel Cotto vs. Ricardo Mayorga bout. Well, for the first time ever, they also joined forces for a television interview aired on Fox Business. See the video clip here, below:
Bob Arum & Don King Video Clip
The duo discussed their history, working together on bouts such as the Thrilla in Manilla and numerous other bouts across the ages. They also discussed aspects of their feud over the years, and of course, their renewed efforts to work together now.
It’s about a 7-minute interview and both men offer some pretty candid answers and insights into one another and their competitive feud at its various stages. Amongst other things, they still can’t agree on who won the Oscar De La Hoya vs. Felix Trinidad bout from the mid 90s.
While friendly now, and “good friends” according to Arum, both approaching their 80s, they could always end up feuding again, but they found comradeship in the fact that they are the two remaining, old-school guys who have been around the block thousands of times.
Now, is that good or bad for boxing, and it’s fans….? Only in America, right?
