Rd 1: Rigondeaux more successful in the early going with his timing and landing clean shots. Donaire looks a bit off kilter. Rigondeaux fast, with great instincts. Donaire looks to his jab to settle things down. Good opening round for Rigo, 10-9.

Rd 2: Things settle down a bit more in the second. Donaire using his jab, Rigondeaux sitting back and waiting for opportunities. Then Rigondeaux throws a 3-punch combo, Donaire retaliates. Donaire more in control in round 2 as Rigo decided to sit back, and Donaire dictated the action. 10-9 Donaire.

Rd 3: Donaire more aggressive here. He’s missing most of what he’s throwing, but he’s leading and he’s looking to land hard shots. Rigondeaux comes forward with a big counter left hand which partially lands. Donaire lands a left hook. Rigondeaux looks to duck down underneath, but still gets hit. Probably enough to win Donaire the round. 10-9 Donaire, 29-28

Rd 4: Rigondeaux with a big combination to open things up. Donaire takes his turn being aggressor. Donaire starting to look frustrated, as Rigondeaux begins looking stronger and more confident. Rigondeaux just a step ahead of Donaire right here. Donaire lands a big shot, shakes Rigondeaux, Rigondeaux lands his own big shot in return, then another right befoer the bell. Rigondeaux’s round, 38-38.

Rd 5: Rigondeaux continuing to assert his control of the fight — pacing and location, leading the action. He’s getting a bit tough in there too, as Donaire grows more frustrated. Some good action here as each man tries to get the last word in exchanges. Rigondeaux definitely gets credit for ring generalship as most else gets answered out. 48-47 Rigo.

Rd 6: As Donaire’s work rate drops, he also begins to look more concerned. Rigondeaux finding a home for his straight left counters, and leads. Rigondeaux circling around, feinting a lot. Using the jab and backing up, inviting Donaire in. Donaire just following him though. Rigondeaux’s round, 58-56.

Rd 7: Donaire looking to cut off the ring. But he’s not being very effective at it. Rigondeaux circles away, makes Donaire miss, he’s a step ahead. Rigondeaux in a real rhythm with his jab right now. Donaire looking lost, Rigondeaux continuing to control. 68-65 Rigondeaux

Rd 8: You wonder at this point what Donaire is going to do to turn this around if he doesn’t land a bomb. He’s not throwing enough, he’s not finding his range, he’s not finding a way to generate offense or land solid shots. Rigondeaux almost on auto pilot, cruising through. Circling and jabbing, keeping Donaire off balance. Another Rigo round. 78-74 for Rigondeaux.

Rd 9: Lots of looking and feinting right now. Donaire looking to land that big, perfect shot. Rigondeaux mostly sitting back and waiting. Lands with his right hook and right jab. More right jabs. Rigo looking flashy, doing some handiwork, showboating a bit. Donaire looks plodding. Just walking around. 88-83 Rigondeaux

Rd 10: Rigondeaux hits the canvas, but it’s a slip. Donaire fired up though, and he’s bringing the pressure. And then boom, there it goes. Lands a straight shot and puts Rigondeaux on his butt officially. Crowd going crazy as the Filipino Flash comes on here. And just like that, with a lot of close rounds, who knows how this fight is going to end up now? Rigondeaux saying he’s not hurt, but Donaire still landing shots. Where was this guy all night? Rigondeaux seems back in control again. Using his jab, beating Donaire’s hook to the punch. 10-8 for Donaire though, bringing it to 96-93 for Rigo.

Rd 11: Donaire continues being more aggressive here, as he needs to. He lands a good shot, but he took some counters coming in for his trouble. Rigondeaux in full bicycle mode right now, he’d like nothing better than to ride this out here. But then he opens up and lands a combination, with no Donaire answer. The fight slows to a crawl, just the way Rigo wants it. 106-102 for Rigondeaux right now.

Rd 12: Donaire comes out shuffling, which doesn’t make any kind of sense. Rigo must have hit and hurt him early. The two tussle and end up on the canvas. Rigondeaux covering his eye, maybe poked in his eye? He’s really covering up right now and staying behind the guard. Not what he needed right now to try to turn this fight around. Rigondeaux opens up and looks to do some damage. Donaire tries to time him with counter lefts, and misses with huge, huge shots. Rigondeaux backs up, and now looks to just close out the bout taking it easy. Donaire swings and misses big, and the final bell rings. Another Rigondeaux round.
