Undefeated welterweight Thomas Dulorme (12-0, 10 KOs) and hard-hitting super lightweight Kenny Galarza (15-1, 14KO’s) departed yesterday for Panama and their respective fights there this Saturday night (Oct. 22) at the World Boxing Association (“WBA”) KO to Drugs card.
Thomas will make his first NABA title defense against hard-hitting Charlie Jose Navarro (20-4, 15 KOs) in a 10-round bout, while Galarza faces Johan Perez (13-0-1, 10 KOs) in their 10-round, WBA Fedelatin title.
In his last fight, Dulorme completely dominated former world champion DeMarcus Corley for ten rounds in a bout televised on ESPN Friday Night Fights. Thomas is now the WBA No. 10 ranked welterweight. He left Puerto Rico on weight at 147 pounds.
“I feel good,” said Dulorme, who is promoted by DiBella Entertainment, Gary Shaw Productions and Universal Promotions. “We are ready to bring home a victory for Puerto Rico. This fight is at 147 pounds, but today I already made weight, and I’m ready for the challenge against Navarro.”
Galarza, won a split decision against Irving Garcia in his last fight, which was also televised on ESPN Friday Night Fights.
“I’m in good shape and I know I’ll have a good fight,” Juana Diaz-native Galarza commented. “I left the gym today only 4 pounds over the 140 limit. Perez is an excellent fighter and for that reason I made great preparations to achieve victory.”
Galarza and Dulorme are part of the Team Puerto Rico boxing team, which was formed by promoters Gary Shaw Productions, DiBella Entertainment and Universal Promotions, to attract the finest group of available Puerto Rican boxers.
