World Boxing Association (WBA) NABA welterweight champion, Thomas Dulorme (13-0, 10 KOs), wrapped up training camp and will travel to the United States after sparring with WBA welterweight champion, Marcos “El Chino” Maidana (31-2, 28 KOs).  The two trained together at Dulorme’s boxing gym in his hometown of Carolina, Puerto Rico.
The heated sparring session went six hard rounds and demonstrated the talent of both fighters at their highest level, as neither gave into attack.

Dulorme, promoted by Gary Shaw Productions, Universal Promotions and DiBella Entertainment went on to say, “The experience was very good.  Maidana and his team treated us very well.  The sparring was very good for me, as “El Chino” is an excellent boxer and world champion.  Sparring with someone who has this type of experience helps me improve my craft.  With him you cannot divert because he hits very hard.”

“I had the opportunity to spar with Dulorme and I can say he is a great fighter,” said Maidana the WBA world champion at 140 pounds.  “He is very fast and has all the talent to be a great world champion. He will go very far.”

Maidana usually travels to Puerto Rico for all training camps in preparation for all his world title defenses.  He comes to the Island to work with conditioning specialist “Pensa” Garcia.

After the sparring ended, both fighters agreed to work together as they could help each other because of their different styles.

Dulorme, a native Carolina continued, “Both our teams got along very well and if Maidana still gives me the opportunity to continue training with him, I will always go.”

Thomas Dulorme will use this experience in his favor as he goes up against the experienced Aris Ambriz (16-2-1, 8 KOs) next Friday, February 17 on a card presented by Gary Shaw Productions and televised by Showtime’s boxing series ShoBox: The New Generation.  This card comes to life at the Chumash Casino in Santa Ynez, California.

The co-feature showcases undefeated 154-pound puncher, his compatriot Jonathan “Mantequilla” Gonzalez (14-0, 13 KOs), who battles global contender Billy Lyell (24-10, 5KOs), in a 10 round fight.  Lyell has fought world class fighters such as Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and James Kirkland.
