As their long-awaited grudge match creeps ever closer, the war of words between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn continues to intensify.
The pair made front page news last month, after Eubank Jr slapped Benn with an egg at the launch press conference for the fight, which will take place on April 26 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Though there has never been any love lost between the two family foes, their rivalry appears to have only grown deeper since the incident – for which ‘Next Gen’ was fined £100,000 by the British Boxing Board of Control.
Initially there was little more than their fathers’ feud and two subsequent bouts in the 1990s, however that all changed when their original fight date in October 2022 was canned due to Benn failing two drugs’ tests.
And when that topic arose when they came face-to-face last week on Piers Morgan Uncensored, Eubank Jr told his younger adversary that he had “put a black mark against the Benn name.”

“His father’s more upset than him because he’s destroyed his father’s legacy.
“He’s put a black mark against the Benn name, that’s actually what has happened.
“I have upheld my family name. I’ve never cut corners and I’ve dedicated my life to this sport.
“The Eubank name is still at the top, it’s still relevant and it’s still respected. The worst thing Conor’s done is put question marks over the Benn name.
“They say like father like son. So if he’s capable of cheating – did his father cheat? That’s the question that now arises.
“I don’t believe his father didn’t know what he was doing. So that means Nigel Benn could have been capable of doing the same thing in his career.”

After a saga that lasted over two years, ‘The Destroyer’ had a temporary suspension lifted by the National Anti-Doping Panel last November and is expected to reapply for his British licence, having relinquished it shortly after his two positive tests came to light.
A two-way contractual rematch clause is in place for next month’s blockbuster, meaning there is every chance British fight fans could see the pair run it back towards the back end of this year.
