Chris Eubank Jr is set to be punished, following his slap on Conor Benn on Tuesday.

Eubank Jr launched an egg in Benn’s face, with their head-to-head descending into a huge melee, before security separated them.

The pair were supposed to have fought in October 2022, but their bout was shelved on fight week after Benn twice tested positive for the banned substance Clomiphene.

In February 2023, the WBC reinstated the Essex man into their rankings after ruling that a “highly-elevated consumption of eggs” was a “reasonable explanation for the adverse finding.

Eubank Jr asked his rival during the press conference how many eggs he consumed and proceeded to unleash one into the 28-year-old’s face.

“I read a tweet that made me chuckle last week and it kind of sums up what this fight is,” the Brighton man said.

“The guy said, ‘Chris Eubank Jr is an arrogant f***ing p**** and I can’t wait until he smashes the eggs out of Conor Benn.’

“Conor, I’ve been meaning to ask you for a long time, how many eggs did you have to eat to fail those two drug tests?”

Benn replied: “The reality is I’ve been cleared three times by the NADP, by the WBC, by UKAD, by people who are a lot smarter than you.”

The British Boxing Board of Control are set to have a hearing into the incident, with Eubank Jr expected to be fined for his actions.

“It was irresponsible,” the Board’s General Secretary Robert Smith told BoxingScene.

“I’m not really bothered by the egg, it’s the fact that Eubank struck Benn.

“That an egg was in his hand at the time is irrelevant, it’s the striking that we have an issue with.”

The feuding pair, who’s fathers fought twice in the 1990’s, are set to conclude their press tour at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday evening and according to Sky Sports, they will not be permitted to face off again.

Eubank Jr, 35, exited the Manchester Central Convention Complex on Tuesday without speaking to any of the media in attendance, however Benn insisted he wasn’t fazed by the slap.

“He slaps like a b****,” Benn told Pro Boxing Fans after the press conference.

“That’s the only shot he’s getting off on me the silly p****”

Benn will move up to 160lbs, having had his last two bouts at 154lbs, with a rehydration clause in place which prevents either man from weighing any more than 10 pounds at a second day weigh in.
