Chris Eubank Jr is seemingly unconcerned by the hefty fine he received for slapping Conor Benn.

Eubank Jr was fined £100,000 by the British Boxing Board of Control [BBBofC] on Tuesday, after he smacked Benn across the face with an egg at the first press conference last month to promote their April 26 grudge match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Reacting to the board’s decision, the 35-year-old posted on X: “Worth every penny.”

In a statement the board said: “Following a hearing before the stewards of the British Boxing Board of Control, Chris Eubank Jr was found to be in breach of regulation 25 (misconduct) for his conduct at the press conference in Manchester for the Chris Eubank Jr v Conor Benn contest on 26th April 2025.

“As such, the stewards of the board fined Chris Eubank Jr the sum of £100,000.”

The Brighton man’s promoter, Ben Shalom insists his fighter has “no choice but to appeal” the verdict.

Eubank Jr’s decision to slap his rival with an egg is a reference to the WBC reinstating Benn into their rankings following two failed drug tests, which shelved their original October 2022 meeting.

The WBC ruled that a “highly-elevated consumption of eggs” was a “reasonable explanation for the adverse finding, although Benn himself did not accept this as a reason for the failed tests and has protested his innocence ever since.

‘The Destroyer’ had his suspension lifted by the National Anti-Doping Panel in November and is expected to reapply for his British licence in time for the fight, having given it up in the weeks after his positive drug tests emerged.

Speaking to Pro Boxing Fans following a second press conference last month, Benn felt his rival should be fined 10 times the amount given to him by the board.

“I think he should get a million pound fine for the slap,” the 28-year-old said.

“Just due to the profile of the fight.

“I feel like it would be an injustice if it was anything less than a million pounds.”

The original Eubank Jr-Benn meeting was supposed to take place at a catchweight of 157lbs, but their April showdown will be contested at 160lbs, with a 10lb rehydration clause on the morning of the fight.
